Building Community

A huge part of life is showing up, but it's how you show up that makes the difference.*

Sure, you can show up to a club meeting, sit through it listening to your iPod, eat the snacks, and go home, but what's the point? What are you bringing to the group? You've chosen to be involved, that's the first step. Now, make a difference in what happens at your school - be a part of your life!

What's your mission? It takes a moment of courage.*

Trying to change norms and ideas in your high school is tough. Knowing the 10-80-10 rule can help you out.

Your Network
- less like a cell phone commercial, more like a safety net.

Someone in your class struggling with that large iMovie file? Maybe you can help them out with your knowledge of video editing.

Need another player for your soccer team? Maybe someone you work with at the convenience store would be a great addition to your team.

Instead of just knowing the names of the people around you, take the time to learn something about each person. You never know when you might be just the person they're looking for, or when they can help you out. If you take some time out of your busy schedule to assist someone else, it's likely that the favor will be returned someday, possibly when you need it the most.
